Trees can be planted on the edge of the existing sidewalk creating new destinations for people to sit, and to organize other street furniture such as bike parking, garbage, and recycling.  By providing shade and a landscape plan, Main Street can become significant public amenities that encourage people to get out of their cars in order to walk or bike.
