The CDB Operating Manual, ARCH400 Studio, Autumn 2024, was a diverse design studio experience, providing a unique combination of analog and digital learning opportunities.

Housing the studio in the very site we were designing for, the CBE (Community Design Building) on University Way NE, made the studio immediate and vivid, studying our workspace began the design process. We used collages and models to communicate and discuss ideas. We developed some of those as drawings, to enough detail to build. We printed big and often to map our progress. We got images on our computer screens to communicate to the sidewalk by using the eye level windows as our pin-up boards.

The studio worked in overlapping teams for design, presentation and fabrication. Together we turned ideas into experiences, and are leaving the campsite better than we found it.
